Why we shouldn’t really force ourselves to make a lot of friends

In this modern world, many people struggle to make friends, let alone maintain friendships. This is especially true as we age; we become busier and busier until we eventually have to indirectly say goodbye to our friends.

Loneliness can be harsh, often leading many to experience depression. Because of this, many people are trying to find ways to make friends in the digital era. Some have written articles on how to make friends, while others have introduced unconventional methods, such as using apps to find new friends based on shared interests, and so on.

But hear me out — in most cases, making a lot of connections could be unnecessary, and I’m sure that many people have already realized the reasons. Remember the concept of “Quality over quantity”? That’s what I am currently implying. This is something I learned after living in Japan: having a lot of friends isn’t important. It’s not as if I would die without them.
